OjiFS Launches New Fullcircle Truck Fleet

As part of our new collections strategy, we are excited to unveil a fleet renewal of our Front-End-Load (FEL) recycling trucks, to improve our wastepaper recovery and recycling service, Fullcircle, and better align with our sustainability strategy.

Our new collections strategy enables our new ‘sea of blue’ trucks on the road to spread our sustainability story throughout New Zealand. Fullcircle is moving from being seen as co-joined with waste companies, to a dedicated specialist underpinning paper and cardboard recycling services for New Zealand businesses.

The new truck design, particularly the recycling graphic, illustrates in simple terms how Oji Fibre Solutions (OjiFS) gives the humble cardboard box a new life. Through our nationwide packaging facilities, we manufacture a third of New Zealand’s cardboard boxes, then Fullcircle collects used wastepaper from customers, which our integrated mills and packaging facilities turn back into ‘recycled’ boxes. This is how OjiFS powers the circular bioeconomy in New Zealand.

Choosing Hino for our truck body was a deliberate decision, so we could spend more time collecting and less non-productive time sitting in traffic, and to ensure our drivers, who are crucial to our success, enjoy a more comfortable ride.

Our new trucks are equipped with EUR06 low-emission engines, while the bodies are fitted with the latest technology, which will improve reliability and enable us to increase load capacity - potentially up to 35% (pending evaluation). These improvements will provide operational efficiencies, while reducing fuel consumption and emissions.

We love the new look of our trucks – and so do others. While the full fleet is not yet commissioned, we’re already starting to receive positive feedback from customers and industry partners, who have seen our new trucks out and about.

We are also looking forward to receiving 35 new lithium-ion electric forklifts in 2024, which will bring significant improvements in terms of environmental impact, operational efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness to our 14 Fullcircle baling stations throughout New Zealand.

We are proud to improve our collection efficiency, and better serve our customers and the communities we operate in, while spending less time on the road.
